Highlighted features of Galaxy S9 and S9+
Galaxy S9 and S9 Plus brought iterations to Galaxy S8. However, there some much-requested features in both these devices. If you are not careful, you might mistake Galaxy S9 for Galaxy S8.
The biggest change one can notice in Galaxy S9 and S9 Plus is the location of the fingerprint sensor. In the Galaxy S8 model, the fingerprint sensor was to the right of the camera sensor – which was highly uncomfortable. The fingerprint sensor in Galaxy S9 is right under the camera in the middle – which is where it should be.
The super AMOLED panels offer vibrant colors with an excellent quality image when viewed from different angles. The Infinity Display feature minimizes the number of accidental palm presses experienced by the users when trying to reach the opposite edge of the phone.
The display of Galaxy S9 is 15 percent brighter than Galaxy S8 and ideal for outdoor viewing. However, Galaxy S9 and S9 Plus get dim too, making them perfect for night time reading.
The Samsung Galaxy S9 and S9 Plus feature a dual-sense camera that has the ability to sense the level of light and switch the aperture automatically. The cameras will switch to f/2.4 aperture if there is enough light around. The camera remains at the f/1.5 aperture in darker conditions.
There are a few improvements such as – multi-frame noise reduction, higher quality slow motion video, better auto-focus, etc. The camera of S9 and S9 Plus may not be a major draw for those who already rely on DSLR for their photos. However, if you are a camera geek who is looking for a phone that can deliver excellent quality images and videos, it is certainly worth considering S9 or S9 Plus.
The S9 and S9 Plus have retained their headphone Jack Unlike iPhone X, Galaxy 8 and other phones in the class. Dongles are the tiny things that are often misplaced. Headphone jacks are extremely useful for those who often lose their dongles. Galaxy S9 Plus has a 3.5mm headphone jack on the left side of the device.
Drawbacks of Galaxy S9 and S9 Plus
Samsung has gone through Apple route, offering high-end specifications. Despite having high-end specifications and rich features, there are a few things that disappointed the fans of Samsung Galaxy. .Here are some of the drawbacks of Galaxy S9 and S9 Plus.
The new Galaxy phones feature the signature model of Samsung i.e. the curved glass panels on the front and back, separated by Aluminum frame. These curved pieces make the phone extremely comfortable to hold. The only thing you need to worry about these phones is the glass back that is prone to fingerprints. The glass back makes the phone easier to break and incurs a high repair cost. The top layer Gorilla Glass 5 is fragile and is likely to wear away in short period. Though these phones are rated IP68 for water resistance and dust, the design lacks durability.
The AR-based Emoji in Galaxy S9 and S9 Plus are somehow creepy. We all know that Apple iPhone X Animoji received a lot of criticism and are not loved by all. Samsung’s AR Emoji convert facial expressions into cartoons that can smile, look around, blink and do a lot more. However, instead of getting attracted to the Emoji — people found them creepy.
Bixby Buttons remain the same
Bixby button can’t be removed but can be disabled. There are a number of handful improvements that won’t change the way you feel about it. A few augmented reality features in Bixby Vision give you the ability to translate text from other languages. Just point the camera to some text and tap the Bixby button to translate the text in real time. You can access the Bixby by swiping over the left-most home screen.
Samsung Galaxy S9 and S9 Plus are predictable devices. Both these phones can be considered as the best performing android phones. The combination of super AMOLED screen and internal hardware delivers a powerful, fast and vivid user experience.
If we have to choose the most impressive one – we can consider Galaxy S9 Plus. S9 Plus gives a boost over S9 in terms of performance, especially when switching between apps. It is well equipped and has gone a long way to winning the approval of experts. Still, the right model for you depends on the features that are on the top of your list.
S9 Plus is a better bet if you want a longer-lasting phone. Considering the battery size and capacity, we can expect S9 Plus will top S9. Galaxy S9 Plus has a longer battery life than S9. The dual rear camera of Galaxy S9 Plus enables a 2X optical zoom, which means you will be able to zoom in without the kind of distortion you would expect from a smartphone camera. Want to shoot perfect pictures on your smartphone? Go with Galaxy S9 Plus.
You can get Galaxy S9 if you are looking for a compact phone. The aspect ratio 18:9 makes both these model easier to hold in one hand. You may like the S9, as it retains its compactness without scarifying the screen resolution. If you don’t want to spend much on a smartphone, Galaxy S9 is the best option.
